Hello and welcome back to the Podcasts of the Caribbean blog! I’m excited to announce something I’ve been planning for the past few weeks to make the upcoming anniversary as special as possible!

Counting down to July 7th

So as we all know, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest is turning 20 years old on July 7th, 2026. And you’ve also known that I’ll be making a special episode commemorating the anniversary like I did with The Curse of the Black Pearl back in 2023. However, when I looked back at the hype surrounding Pirates of the Caribbean in 2006, I realized that I wanted this lead up to the anniversary to be a bit more special. Especially since we don’t know if Disney is actually planning to do anything for the anniversary at this point.

So on May 29th (the day this blog post goes live), we’ll be kicking off this countdown celebration with a new episode featuring my conversation with fellow Pirates fan Reinbew Pastel! If you’re a fan of the Young Jack Sparrow books or any other Pirates of the Caribbean media from the 2000s, this will be a fun episode to listen or watch to!

But that’s not all! Throughout June, I’ll be releasing shorter episodes dedicated to specific parts of the 2006 Pirates hype. Here’s the full schedule of our Dead Man’s Chest countdown celebration!

Episode 66: 2000’s Nostalgia with Reinbew Pastel (May 29th)

Episode 67: Dead Man’s Chest’s Marketing/Merchandising Campaign (June 12th)

Episode 68: The 2006 Refurbishment of the Pirates of the Caribbean Attraction (June 19th)

Episode 69: Mystery Episode (June 26th)

Episode 70: Dead Man’s Chest 20th Anniversary Episode (July 3rd)

In addition to these episodes, I’ve also been working on my first ever video project over the past few months that I hope to finish and upload in time for the 20th anniversary of Dead Man’s Chest. This video is devoted to everything that Disney did to promote the film back then, going super in depth into how crazy the hype was back in 2006. Hopefully I can get that finished in time. If not in time for the anniversary, then it should definitely be done by the end of July!

Regardless, it’s going to be a fun time and I hope you join me in celebrating the 20th anniversary of Dead Man’s Chest! If Disney doesn’t want to celebrate it, then I’m going to try my hardest to do so instead! Hopefully you all enjoy this, I’m super excited for it!
